Police officers in Borno State have taken to the streets of Maiduguri, the state capital today (Monday) in a protest.
The officers who are protesting over six months of unpaid allowances barricaded major roads around the police headquarters.
Residents told Channels Television that the officers also fired some gun shots, causing commuters to scamper for safety.
But in a swift reaction, the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP JIMOH Moshood in an interview monitored on government owned television NTA News 24 declared that “there no Policeman protested in Borno or anywhere in the country.”
“Salary is being paid as at when due but some PMF personnel in Maiduguri only went to make enquiry on their allowances,” he stated.
