Sack Looms As Buhari Meets Service Chiefs In Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with his service chiefs at the Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja.

Indications are that President Buhari may sack some of the service chiefs over allegations of lopsided-sided appointments in his government.

TheGazetter recalls that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had accused the president ignoring federal character while appointing his service chiefs.

Obsanjo had said, “For instance, the Federal Character principle, as espoused in our constitution, was to guide the leadership to search for competent holders of major offices to be distributed within the entire nation, and avoid concentration in a few ethnic hands or geographical places, as we currently have in the leadership of our security apparatus,” adding that “To avoid such non-integrative situation, we have the National Assembly and the Federal Character Commission, both institutions which must raise the alarm or call for correction of actions by the executive that violates the spirit of our constitution.”

Reacting to some of the allegations recently, President Buhari had promised to review some of his appointments to address the allegations of marginalisation.

This is a developing story…
