Senate invasion a treasonable felony, says Nwabueze

Elder statesman and constitutional lawyer, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, has described the recent invasion of the Senate chamber and seizure of its mace as a treasonable felony.

He made the explanation in a statement yesterday.

According to him, it is punishable under Section 41 of the Criminal Code of the Nigerian Constitution.

Nwabueze added: “It is a treasonable felony for a person to “form the intention” of levying “war against Nigeria and to manifest such intention by overt act by force, or constraint to intimidate or overawe any House of the National Assembly.”
