Defeated Boko Haram Kill 5 Soldiers, Injured 13 & Abducted 23 Others In Borno

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, Sector 5, operational headquarters in Borno State one Alhaji Inuwa Ibrahim has told reporters that the deadly Boko Haram sect that the president Muhammadu Buhari government said it defeated has abducted 23 soldiers, killed 5 and injured 13 others. He said the attack occurred around Gashigar, a border area with Niger Republic on Monday evening.

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the incident but remain silent about the killing of 5 soldiers. The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Usman, has revealed that several soldiers have been declared missing after Boko Haram terrorists on Monday evening attacked their location at Gashigar, a border area with Niger Republic in the northern part of Borno State.

Usman said though the troops did their best to defend the location, their efforts were in vain.

“In the process, 13 soldiers sustained injuries while some are still missing in action.”

Usman said the temporary setback made the troops to withdraw from the location.

The wounded soldiers have also been evacuated and are receiving treatment, while efforts are ongoing in the search for those missing.

Usman equally said troops have mobilized to clear the Boko Haram terrorists in the general area.
