Act Now Or Lose Anambra, Group Tells PDP

A pressure group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP Rescue Movement, has charged the party’s appeal committee to act in the best interest of it having any chance in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra state by interrogating the primaries thoroughly.

In a statement in Abuja by spokesman of the PDP Rescue Movement, Emeka Ezenwa, they warned that except the party examines critical the events that threw up  “neophyte” as the PDP governorship flag bearer, the party stands little chance in the elections.

“It is a curious matter that democratic norms were thrown overboard, sacrifices of longstanding members of the party trampled upon the satisfy the ego of man in the debacle called primaries in Anambra,” the group said.

“We urge the party’s appeals committee to demand for the 15 votes that went ‘awol’, unaccounted for. Without it, the whole exercise amounts to a charade, an adventure in futility which will become a subject of legal action.

“While it is our desire to see our great party consolidate its hold in the South East, it will not be achieved on the altar of political gimmicky.

“It is, therefore, expedient that the appeals committee resolves the missing 15 ballots, assure esteemed members of the party that have toiled, serviced and committed to the party their sacrifices are not in vain,” Ezenwa stated.

Valentine Ozigbo was declared winner of the PDP gubernatorial ahead of billionaire businessman, Obiora Okonkwo and Senator Uche Ekwunife amongst others.
