The Nigerian Army, on Tuesday, said they have arrested five persons suspected to have burnt down a Fulani herdsmen community in Adamawa State.
The Army said although they are yet to arrest the suspected herdsmen who killed at least 21 people in Dowaya village in Demsa Local Government Area of the state, but that they have arrested five persons suspected to have carried out a revenge mission on the Fulani herdsmen community.
The arrest of the five persons is coming barely 24 hours after both attacks occurred.
According to the Army, the arrest was made by the 23 Armored Brigade in Yola, the state capital.
“The suspects were arrested by our own troops on patrol on 23 June 2018 by 1545 hours along Numan expressway at Mayo lope.
“They were sighted burning of [sic] Fulani settlers,” the Army said in a terse statement endorsed by Col. Egbejile Aposeiyi.
