There are indications that the Osun governorship rerun has come to a conclusion as voting exercise has ended in all seven polling units where results were cancelled in the September 22 election in the state.
According to reports, voting ended at about 12: 52 om in Ife South, Olode Ward 07, PU12 in Adereti village in the state.
Ife South is a stronghold of the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, who on Wednesday agreed to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enable the ruling party’s candidate, Isiaka Oyetola, defeat Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other pollings where elections have been concluded are:
– Ife North, Ward 10, PU2
– Ife South Osi Ward 8 PU10, Aluti Erin Primary School, Albert village
– Orolu Ward 08 PU001, Kajola village
– Orolu Ward 08 PU004 Idi Iya village
– Orolu Ward 09 PU 003 Gbogbo Primary School Adeleke
– Osogbo Ataoja Ward 05 PU 017 Adewale Street.
As of when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the original election “inconclusive” on Sunday, Adeleke was leading the poll with 254, 699 votes against APC’s Oyetole, who had 254, 345 votes.
Many political observers expect that the candidate of the APC will be at advantage in the rerun election, especially as Omisore had agreed to help the ruling party.
