U.S.-backed Syrian fighters has declared liberation of al-Raqqa from the control of Islamic State militants, ending a campaign that began in June.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, (SDF) a Kurd-led alliance supported by the United States, said at a televised press conference in al-Raqqa on Friday.
The SDF said the al-Raqqa Civil Council would be in charge of the reconstruction of the city, which was devastated over the course of its liberation.
Islamic State seized al-Raqqa in north-eastern Syria in early 2014.
